The best tutors in Scottsdale, AZ

Yes. Arizona students in grades 3–8 take the AASA (Arizona's Academic Standards Assessment) in English language arts and math, and high schoolers take the ACT Aspire in 9th grade and the ACT in 11th grade as the state assessments. Filter by Math or Reading to find tutors for AASA skills. Ask a tutor how they use your child's score reports; Vogel Prep, for example, lists AASA among the tests it prepares students for.

The directory covers Scottsdale Unified, Paradise Valley Unified, Cave Creek Unified and Fountain Hills Unified in the northeast Valley; Phoenix districts such as Madison, Creighton and Washington elementary districts and Phoenix Union; Kyrene and Tempe Union in Tempe and Ahwatukee; Chandler Unified, Gilbert Public Schools, Higley Unified, Mesa Public Schools and Queen Creek Unified in the East Valley; and Deer Valley and Peoria Unified in the North and West Valley. In-home services such as Tutor Doctor and Club Z! list the areas they travel to on their own pages.

Many do. Arizona has one of the highest shares of charter-school enrollment in the country, and networks such as BASIS Charter Schools and Great Hearts Academies have several campuses in Scottsdale, Phoenix, Chandler, Peoria and the East Valley. Their curricula often move faster than district pacing, so tell a tutor which school and course your student is in. The subject tutors and AP coaches listed here work with students from both district and charter schools.

Tutoring is an allowed expense under Arizona's Empowerment Scholarship Account program, which the Arizona Department of Education administers through ClassWallet. Each provider decides whether to register as a vendor, so confirm with the provider and with the ESA program before booking. In this directory we mention ESA only where the provider says so on its own page. For example, Study Hall has a page for homeschool and ESA families.

Arizona juniors take the ACT as the state test, and many students also sit the SAT for college admissions and scholarships. Test-prep listings here include Test Geek (Scottsdale and Gilbert), Scottsdale Education Center, Vogel Prep and New Edge Science Academy, as well as franchise centers that offer test prep. Filter by SAT & ACT Prep and compare class formats: 1-on-1, small group or online.
